An Interview

Poem

Like a Mormon Buddha
Behind a broad expanse of desk
Eyes narrowed, reflective,
Fingertips meeting exactly,
Taking your measure slowly,
So very slowly, minutes ticking,
Swinging metro-gnome-like
In swivel chair from side to side;
Ponderous body in ponderous chair,
Verifying your mind,
Calculating your soul.
